DC/SLA Career Happy Hour

DC/SLA Career Happy Hour

The DC/SLA Employment and Career Resources Committee invites members interested in seeking/giving career advice or making connections to a happy hour at Hamburger Hamlet in Crystal City. This is an unstructured happy hour but attendees are encouraged to exchange business cards and resumes.

When: Wednesday, August 21, 5:30-7:30 pm (drink and appetizer specials until 7 pm)

Where: Hamburger Hamlet, 1750 Crystal Square Arcade, Arlington, VA 22202. We will have a reserved section.

Metro/Parking: Free garage parking at Crystal City Shops after 4 pm. Underground walk from garage and Crystal City Metro.

Price: Everyone pays his/her own tab.

Join DC/SLA for a Pre-Cinco de Mayo for an evening of networking over drinks at our Happy Hour with SLA President Deb Hunt!

We’ll be gathering at Ceiba (http://www.ceibarestaurant.com/ceiba.html) around 5pm and we’ll be there until at least 8pm.

Join DC/SLA for Librarians Can Act!

Whether we’re covering the reference desk, working with IT staff, justifying our budgets/services to decision makers, or doing some kind of outreach let’s face it strong creative communication skills are essential.

 Join DC/SLA for Librarians Can Act! This two hour class with Theatre Lab, a local nonprofit school for the dramatic arts, will help you refine your communication skills via improv and creativity exercises. You’ll get a chance to get to know your fellow DC/SLA members better after a series of networking exercises.
